Weekend Workshop: Landscape Master Copy with Brock Larson
with Brock Larson
Painting the landscape from nature with its infinite variables can be one of the most difficult of subject matters that the painter can attempt. From the rapidly fleeting light effects to uncomfortable weather conditions, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to know where or how to begin. Fortunately, a path has been cleared by master painters before us, and we have the benefit today to learn from their achievements of interpreting nature from life. In this 3-day intensive course, students will explore the techniques of the great landscape artists to strategize an approach, prioritize information, and simplify details by painting directly from high-res landscape masterpieces. The goal is to be familiarized with how these skills can apply when taken out of the studio to painting en pleinair, how to paint quickly, and how to craft an interesting design and choose a composition that displays the story that the painter wants to express. This workshop is designed to cater toward all skill levels.
