2-Week Drawing Intensive Workshop with Mackenzie Swenson (Week 1)
with Mackenzie Swenson
$535
This two-week intensive drawing course is designed to teach artists of all levels the foundations of drawing with an emphasis on understanding and creating the illusion of 3D form. This will be achieved through the time-honored tradition of drawing from plaster casts as well as figure drawing from life. These are essential exercises for training the eye to see accurately. Students will draw a plaster cast in the morning and a live model in the afternoon. The figure drawing portion will begin with short figure poses that focus on accurate block-ins, moving into a long figure pose. The process we will be using for both cast and figure is the “window shading” method—rendering one section at a time to completion. The drawing will begin with the standard “block-in” done on paper to establish a strong gesture, accurate likeness, and proportion in a linear mode with attention to anatomical points. After, we will move into modeling form through understanding of the light source. Basic anatomy, materials, comparative measuring, light and form will be discussed throughout the course. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in an environment where you will rapidly improve your draftsmanship, no matter what your current level of drawing is! Class size is limited to 10 participants. A materials list will be sent once you have prepaid for the class.
